DIY LAUNDRY SOAP #1

NEW FAVORITE LIQUID
(Be sure to read all the way through and then see the easy way I adjusted this at the bottom under "My Way").

1 complete bar Fels Naptha or Zote (Available in the laundry section of Walmart)
1  cup Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (NOT baking soda)
1  cup 20 Mule Team Borax
3 c. boiling water (initially)
2 mason jars (qt size)

1. Unwrap the soap bar and cut the bar in half. Take 1/2 of the bar and cut it into chunks (the smaller the better).

2. Place all of those chunks into one of the quart mason jars.

3. Cut up the other half and place those pieces in the second mason jar.

4. Add 1 and 1/2 c. boiling water to each jar. Cover and let sit overnight.

In the morning (or the next day), the soap will have a thick almost gel form.

5. Take a knife and make criss cross cuts all the way through the soap.

6. Add 1/2 c. borax and 1/2 c. washing soda to each jar.

7. Add enough boiling water to each jar to bring the level up to the shoulder of each jar.

8. Take your blades from your blender and cap one jar with it.

9. Blend well until looks the consistency of creamy mayo.

10. Blend second jar.

Use ONLY 1 Tablespoon per load. This is low sudsing so don't think it isn't working just because it doesn't suds.

MY WAY: i put all the ingredients into a gallon ice cream tub. I put the soap in and covered with water, left it overnight (and most of the next day because I got busy!), then cut through it as per original instructions. Later the next day I mixed the borax and soda with some very hot water to dissolve it and poured that into my bucket. Stirred to mix as well as I could. Then I took my hand mixer and blended until it turned the creamy consistency. Hung a 1 T. measure on the tub and absolutely love this detergent. You can add some scent to it but I love it just the way it is. Everything smells clean and is clean.

I usually mix 1 T. in a glass and pour into my washer (because I wash everything in cold water), but you can also just hold the spoon under the running water and let it slide off into the washer.

If you try it, please come back and let me know what you think.

God bless.

DIY LAUNDRY SOAP #2

Powder

1/4 bar Fels Naptha or Zote (available in laundry section in Wal-Mart and Target)

1/4 cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (NOT baking soda)

1/2 cup 20 Mule Team Borax

1/4 cup Oxyclean (optional)

Microwave bar soap about 20 seconds, until crumbly. Crumble into food processor or blender.

Blend well, add all other dry ingredients. Blend into fine powder.

May add scent beads if desired.

Store in covered container, use 1/8 to 1/4 cup per load.

I haven't tried it but I'm told it is safe for front loading washers. However, check with a trusted repairman first.

DIY LAUNDRY SOAP #3

Liquid

Same as above, I add a few drops of blue Dawn. Mix in one gallon container filled with warm water until mixed good, then pour into 5 gallon bucket and fill to top with water. NOTE: Must be stirred before use.

Use 1/8 to 1/4 cup.

Again I have been told this is good for front loading washers but I would check first.

This soap is low to no sudsing. Better for the environment and a lot cheaper to use.

Add vinegar to your rinse cycle to help clothes feel softer and smell better. (the vinegar smell will dissipate in the dryer).
